Senior Meals

Meals on Wheels

For over 13 years, the Zion Township ‘s ongoing support of the Meals on Wheels Program has ensured that qualified seniors and shut-ins receive hot meals five days a week, including the holidays. Meals are prepared and packaged fresh daily, taking into account each recipient’s diet restrictions as ordered by their physician. Ms. Sandy Bellman of the Sheridan Health Care Center oversees the meal preparation, while Youth and Senior Services Manager Eunice Bridges coordinates routes, solicits volunteers and manages the daily program operations.

For additional information about the Meals on Wheels program, or for a
volunteer application, please contact Eunice Bridges at the Township office at 847-872-2811.

Senior’s Luncheon

Zion Township partners with the Zion Park District to host a Seniors’ Luncheon on the first Wednesday of each month at 10:00 a.m. at the Leisure Center.

The luncheon is open to all Zion senior citizens and features entertainment as well as “The Hot Topic” guest speakers.
The Township covers the meat cost for the meals. Please contact the Park District at 847-746-5500 for more information.

Reduced Rate Meal Card

Zion Township processes the discounted meal cards offered by Catholic Charities for local seniors. Since the closing of the former Happy Bill’s restaurant, there are no local restaurants allowed to participate in this program, but the card is still good at 7 other locations in Lake County . Please stop by the Township office for an application and a list of participating restaurants.
