What does the Assessors Office do?

At the Zion Township Assessors Office, we appraise each property to determine its market value. Our method is established by the Illinois Department of Revenue and the property is then assessed at 33.33% of the value by statue. Our job is to place market values on each parcel in the Zion Township Jurisdiction.

Meet Zion Assessor, Colette Davis

Colette is responsible for placing market values on each parcel in Zion Township. There are over 8,200 parcels in this jurisdiction.  In addition, the Assessor maintains proper records on all improved parcels, physically inspects each property that is affected by permits as applicable, verifies each recorded sales declaration from the County Recorder of Deeds which allows us to perform a statistical analysis of the market in Zion Township.  In addition,  she ensures the taxpayers are receiving all allowable forms of tax relief through various exemptions.

It is her desire to educate and improve the understanding of the tax process for taxpayers as well as keep them abreast of new information  via social media “Property Tax Tips” and various educational sessions throughout the year.
